Dying Dust

Dying Dust

Emerald blades of grass

Underneath bared feet

Wind through red hair

Sky as blue as my eyes

Before it all went insane

A time when mud pies

And playing with sticks

Not knowing heart break…

Outside until black velvet

And winking, dying dust

Only when my name was called

Forced to kiss it goodnight

Innocence and heart untarnished

Memories still lodged in deep

The thoughts keep me strong

Locked inside the mind to keep

Before the souls loved so great

Met the same fate

As the winking, dying dust….

Before I kissed it goodnight….

One should never forget

Never surrender completely

To the cruel dying dust

And innocence from long ago.
